Holy Avtar Vani - Shabad No. 25
Koi soora kio raja nahin ey bheekh jo ethon panda nahin;
Ik vi jeev nahin jag utte jo is ton mang khanda nahin.
Lakkhan kismat mare ethe papi te badkar vi ne;
Ghul ghul lakkhan dukkhan andar jeevan ton bejar vi ne.
Lakh karorhan kha ke ehda saaf mukarde jande ne;
Hochhe murakh kha ke ehda ehnoon akkh vikhande ne.
Ese jag vich kaee hazaran dukkhan hatthon mar rahe ne;
Ese jag vich kaee hazaran ustat nindya kr rahe ne.
Kaid vi teri marzi ey azadi teri marzi ey;
Kaun tainu kujh keh sadai eh marzi meri marzi ey.
Murakh banda tere chon vi kadh ke nuks vikhanda ey;
Honi da jan thapprh lagdai hosh tan ehnoon anda ey.
Jihnoon vi ey kr lae apna oh asgah ho janda ey;
Sant avtar mile je poora mangta shah ho janda ey.
Meaning
Be it warrior or a king, all live on His gracious benevolence. There is not a single creature in the world who does not beg from Him for sustenance. There are millions of unfortunate, sinners and evil-doers in the world. Millions are miserable and fed up with life. There are millions who refuse to acknowledge the benevolence of the Almighty despite being fed by Him. The ungrateful fools dare Him even after receiving all His bounties. Thousands in this world are dying due to their pain and sufferings. Thousands in this world are busy praising or condemning. Both Bondage and freedom depend upon Thy will. Who can tell thee that this will is his will? The foolish even tries to find fault with Thee. But when destiny strikes its blow only then he comes to his senses. The one, whom He holds dear, becomes unfathomable and boundless. Avtar says, even a beggar becomes a king on meeting the perfect saint.
